That covers the unit, the automatic transfer switch, the gas connection, the concrete pad, the ESA permit, and commissioning. A long gas line or extra panel work adds to it, and the quote says so.

Standby (whole-home) starts automatically within seconds of a power outage and runs your whole house — no manual setup, no carbon monoxide risk from extension cords. Portable generators are cheaper upfront but require setup during the outage, only power what you can plug into them, and are unsafe to run indoors. For Ontario winter outages, standby is the right choice.

The 14 kW Essential keeps 16 chosen circuits running: the furnace, the fridge, the sump pump and the key lights. A 14 kW whole-home unit suits a 2–3 bedroom gas-heated home on a 100A service, and the 18 kW adds room for central AC or an EV charger. The 22 kW is the usual pick for a 3–4 bedroom home with central AC and an EV charger or a pool. The 24 kW and 26 kW are for large homes, or homes with electric heat, that run several big loads at once. We size it from your actual loads, not square footage.

Generac Guardian residential generators run on natural gas (most common in the GTA — connects to your existing gas line) or propane (rural homes without natural gas). Diesel is only used for commercial / industrial. Natural gas is the cleanest, lowest-maintenance option for residential.

Yes. The automatic transfer switch detects the outage, signals the generator to start, and transfers your panel to generator power within 15–30 seconds. When hydro returns, the switch transfers back and shuts the generator off automatically. No manual intervention required.

About 65–70 dB at 7 metres — roughly the volume of a normal conversation or a dishwasher running. The Generac Guardian line uses sound-attenuated enclosures specifically for residential use. We position the unit per local bylaws (most municipalities require a 1m setback from property lines).
