Terms
& conditions.

What you can expect from us, and what we need from you. If a clause here does not match what somebody told you on the phone, this page is what we will honour.

Who you are contracting with

These terms are between you and Copper Bee Electrical Inc., an electrical contractor licensed by the Electrical Safety Authority under ECRA/ESA licence 7019043, operating in Ontario, Canada. Where these terms say “we” or “Copper Bee”, they mean that company.

They apply when you request a quote, accept a quote, buy a product, or have us perform work. If you do not agree with them, do not accept a quote.

How a quote works

We quote from photographs and the details you give us, which is how we can price a job without a site visit. That means a quote rests on what you tell us being accurate and complete.

A price is not final until a licensed electrician has reviewed your request and set it. Anything shown before that — a calculator estimate, a catalogue price, a “from” figure — is an indication, not an offer.

Quoted prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude HST unless stated otherwise. A quote is valid for 30 days. Material prices move, and past 30 days we may need to re-price.

What a quote includes

Unless your quote says otherwise, the price covers labour, the materials listed, and the ESA notification and inspection for the work described.

It does not cover: repairs to conditions we could not see in your photographs, work required by an inspector that was not in the scope, drywall repair or repainting, permits for structural or building work, or upgrades to service equipment owned by your utility.

Accepting, and paying

You accept a quote by paying it, or by telling us in writing to proceed. Accepting forms a binding agreement on these terms.

We accept payment by card, by Interac e-Transfer to legal.copperbee@gmail.com, by cheque payable to Copper Bee Electrical Inc., and by cash. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

Where a job requires a deposit, we order materials once it clears. We schedule installation once the balance is settled, unless we have agreed something different with you in writing.

Scheduling, access, and your obligations

We agree an installation date with you and confirm it. Someone 18 or over must be present, and we need safe access to the panel, the work area, and the exterior of the building where the job needs it.

If we arrive and cannot start — no access, no one home, the area not cleared, a pet that cannot be secured — we may charge for the visit and rebook.

You are responsible for telling us about anything we could not reasonably see: knob-and-tube or aluminium wiring, previous unpermitted work, asbestos, structural issues, or a shared or non-standard service. Any of those can change what the job costs, and we will tell you before we continue.

Permits, inspection, and work found on site

We file the ESA notification and arrange the inspection for work that needs it. The inspection is carried out by the Electrical Safety Authority, not by us, and the timing is theirs.

If an inspector requires work beyond the quoted scope, that is additional. So is anything we uncover once a panel or a wall is open. In both cases we stop, tell you what it is and what it costs, and carry on only once you have agreed. Additional work is billed on the same terms as the original.

Cancelling

Cancelling is free up to the point we order the materials for your job. After that it costs 30% of the pre-tax subtotal, because by then we have bought parts for your home and paid for them. The fee is charged on the pre-tax figure, never on the HST.

Cancellations must reach us in writing at legal.copperbee@gmail.com. The full detail, including a worked example, is on our cancellation policy page.

Your cooling-off right comes first. If you signed an agreement with us somewhere other than our place of business — at your home, for example — Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act gives you ten days to cancel for any reason, at no cost. That right cannot be signed away, and nothing above reduces it. Tell us in writing within those ten days and there is no charge.

Warranty

Our workmanship carries a one-year guarantee from the date of installation. If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and put it right at no charge.

Products carry their manufacturer’s own warranty, which is usually longer. We handle the claim paperwork with the manufacturer on your behalf. What each covers is set out on our warranty page.

The guarantee does not cover damage from misuse, alteration by someone else, power surges where surge protection was declined, or normal wear.

Products bought without installation

Where you buy a product from us without installation, the manufacturer’s warranty applies and our workmanship guarantee does not, because we did not do the work.

Unopened products in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Products that have been installed, opened, or ordered specially for you cannot.

Liability

Where we cause loss or damage through our negligence, we are responsible for it, and we will put it right.

We are not responsible for pre-existing faults we did not cause or agree to fix, for loss caused by information you gave us that turned out to be wrong, or for indirect losses such as lost income or spoilage. Except where our negligence caused it, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the job.

Nothing here limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or any other Ontario law, or excludes liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence.

Where we work

We serve the Greater Toronto Area. Outside that, how far we travel depends on the size of the job — ask us and we will tell you straight. Our service area page lists the cities we cover.

Your information

What we collect and why is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. Photographs you send us are used to quote and to carry out your job. We do not publish photographs of your property without asking you first.

Disputes, and the law that applies

If something goes wrong, tell us first — most of it gets sorted on the phone. Write to legal.copperbee@gmail.com and we will respond.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it, and the Ontario courts have jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your job is the one published when you accepted your quote, and we keep a copy. Changes are not retroactive.
