What we collect,
and what you can do about it.
Copper Bee Electrical Inc. is an electrical contractor in Ontario, ECRA/ESA #7019043. This policy covers the information we collect through this website and in the course of quoting and doing electrical work, and it is written to meet Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

We ask for what the job needs.
We collect your name, your contact details, the address the work is at, and whatever you tell us about the job — including photos, if you send them. We use it to quote the work, do the work, invoice it and honour the warranty afterwards. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except the suppliers listed below who help us run the business.
You can ask us to remove your information from your account, and you can ask us for a copy of everything we hold by emailing legal.copperbee@gmail.com. Neither costs anything.
What we collect, and why each piece.
To give you a price
- Your name, email and phone number
- The service address, and what kind of property it is
- What you want done, and when you need it
- Photos you choose to upload of your panel or the space
A remote quote is the whole model here, which is why we ask for photos instead of booking a visit to look. Nothing is booked until you have seen the price.
To do the work and bill it
- Details about the property — panel brand, service amperage, year built
- Visit times, work performed, and photos our electrician takes on site
- Amounts invoiced and paid, the payment method, and a Stripe reference
Card numbers never reach us. Stripe processes the payment and holds the instrument; what we keep is an amount, a method and a reference.
Automatically, when you use the site
- Which pages you visited, counted by our own site without cookies, so we know what is worth writing more about
- How you found us (the site or campaign link you arrived from), saved with a quote request or message
- The browser and referring site recorded with a quote request
We count visits and taps on our phone number ourselves, without cookies and without keeping your IP address. If you allow it, or don’t decline outside Quebec and Europe, your browser also keeps a random ID and how you first found us, so we can link next week’s visit to this one. “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page changes your answer.
Only if you ask for it
- Your email address, if you subscribe to new guides
- A saved panel calculator report, if you ask us to email you one
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately, as CASL requires. Unsubscribing does not affect emails about work you have booked.
We do not ask for your SIN, your date of birth or your banking details, because none of them are needed to wire a house.
How long we keep it, and what forces that.
“As long as necessary” tells you nothing, so each row below says what actually sets the clock. The longest of them is set by the CRA, not by us.
Quote requests that never became work
Until you ask us to remove them
No legal clock applies. They stay only because a repeat customer usually wants the history.
Photos you uploaded
Removed when you ask
They are pictures of the inside of your home. When you ask us to remove your information, the files are deleted from storage, not just unlinked.
Invoices, orders and payment records
About six years
The Canada Revenue Agency requires business records to be kept roughly six years from the end of the tax year they relate to. We keep the record and take your name off it.
Work records and inspection paperwork
Kept
An ESA inspection is a permanent fact about a property, and the workmanship guarantee follows whoever owns it rather than whoever bought it.
Visit counts
25 months
To compare one season with the last.
Random visitor ID in your browser
13 months, then replaced
So we can compare a month with the same month last year. Declining in Privacy choices deletes it at once.
How you found us, in your browser
90 days
Long enough for a search or an ad to lead to a quote. If you send a quote request, we save it with the request and keep it as long as the request.
Your sign-in
Closed on request, immediately
Nothing requires us to keep an account open.
Who else touches your information.
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. These are the companies we use to run the business, each of which handles some part of your information on our behalf and under contract:
Supabase
The database, file storage and sign-in. Hosted in Canada (Central).
Vercel
Runs the website itself and measures how fast pages load.
Stripe
Processes card payments. They hold the card; we never see it.
Resend
Sends the email we send you — quotes, receipts, reminders.
Google Maps
Suggests addresses as you type one.
Sentry
Reports errors on the site so we can fix them. We set it not to collect personal details.
Some of these process data outside Canada, which means it can be subject to the laws of the country it sits in. We will also disclose information where the law requires it — a court order, or a regulator such as the Electrical Safety Authority acting within its authority.
What you can ask us to do.
Get a copy of everything
- Your profile, quote requests, orders, jobs and properties
- Messages you exchanged with us, and the names of files you sent
- What you were charged and what you paid
Email us and we will put it together and send it. PIPEDA gives us thirty days; in practice it will be a lot sooner. Tell us if you would rather have it as a document than a data file.
Ask for a copyHave it removed
- Your name, contact details and service address come off every record
- Photos you uploaded are deleted from storage
- Your sign-in is closed
Invoices and payment records stay for the CRA period above, with your name taken off them. If work is still open we will tell you which job, and complete the removal once it closes — within thirty days either way.
Remove my informationYou can also correct anything that is wrong, and withdraw consent to be contacted at any time. Withdrawing consent to marketing does not stop the emails about work you have booked — you need those.
The banner on your first visit tells you whether we link your visits and lets you choose. In Quebec, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we link nothing until you allow it; everywhere else it is on unless you decline. We work out where you are from your connection and don’t keep the address. You can change your answer any time with “Privacy choices” at the bottom of every page.
There are narrow cases where we cannot hand something over: where doing so would reveal personal information about somebody else, or where the information is subject to legal privilege. If that ever applies we will tell you which part we are holding back, and why.
How it is protected, and how to complain.
Only the people doing your job can open your records, and we log every administrative change against the name of whoever made it. Your photos sit in a private bucket that nobody can reach by guessing a URL, and the database checks permissions on every table itself, so a mistake in the website cannot hand out somebody else’s records.
If we ever have a breach that puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner. The law requires that; we would do it regardless.
Questions, corrections and complaints go to legal.copperbee@gmail.com, or by phone on (647) 890-4747. We answer privacy requests within thirty days.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. You do not need our permission to do that, and it costs nothing.
