About 90% of Copper Bee quotes land at exactly the price shown on the catalogue page. The other 10% shift — up or down — for a small list of reasons. Photos are how we catch all of them before you accept.
What can push the price up
- Long wire runs — if the panel is on one end of the house and the work is on the other, more wire and conduit means more material and labour. Adds $200–$800 typically.
- Finished walls / ceilings on the run path — fishing wire through drywall takes 3× longer than running it through an unfinished basement. Adds 1–2 hours of labour.
- Panel is full or needs reorganising — if there’s no spare breaker space, we may need to swap a tandem in or rearrange a couple of circuits. Usually $100–$200.
- Federal Pacific / Stab-Lok panel — we won’t add load to these unsafe panels. The panel needs replacing first — a separate quote.
- Outdoor work in winter — frozen ground for grounding rods, snow on the work area. Small surcharge sometimes.
What can pull the price down
- Short clean run, panel right next to the work area — we sometimes deduct $100–$200 if a 3-hour install becomes a 1-hour install.
- Bundled jobs — doing the panel upgrade and the EV charger on the same visit saves on permit fees and trip charges. We pass that through.
- Customer-supplied product — if you bought the Tesla Wall Connector yourself, we install it for the installation portion only.
How we keep this clean
The final quote line-items every adjustment so you can see exactly what changed and why. If you don’t like the new number, you can decline — no charge, no obligation.
Adding or removing items after the quote is also a price change, but always in your control.
