What works with Lutron Caséta?

The smart home ecosystems and devices Lutron Caséta talks to.

Lutron Caséta is the smart switch system we install most often. It works as well as any wireless lighting system in the residential market and integrates broadly. Here’s what plays nicely with it.

Voice control

  • Amazon Alexa — ask Alexa to turn lights on, set scenes, adjust dimming.
  • Google Assistant — same.
  • Apple Siri / HomeKit — requires the Lutron Smart Bridge Pro (not the regular Smart Bridge).

Smart home hubs

  • SmartThings — full integration.
  • Hubitat — full integration via the official Lutron Caséta driver.
  • Home Assistant — great support, including local control.
  • Control4 / Crestron / Savant — professional integrations available.

Sensor and accessory ecosystem

  • Pico remotes — battery-powered 5-button remotes that act as virtual switches. Mount anywhere, replace 3-way switches without rewiring.
  • Caséta Smart Hub / Pro — required for Wi-Fi and cloud features. Pro version adds HomeKit and integration depth.
  • Motion sensors — Lutron-branded battery-operated PIR sensors trigger lights on motion.
  • Sun and shade automation — Lutron motorised shades and roller blinds tie in for full ambient control.

What it doesn’t play with

  • Matter (yet) — Lutron Caséta isn’t Matter-native as of 2026. Lutron RA3 (their pro line) supports it; Caséta will follow.
  • Zigbee / Z-Wave directly — Caséta uses its own proprietary Clear Connect radio. Routes through hubs like SmartThings if you want to mix.

Should I pick Caséta or something else?

Caséta is the best choice for most homes because it’s reliable, doesn’t require deep Wi-Fi, and has the smoothest install. The main alternatives:

  • Leviton Decora Smart — cheaper, Matter-native, requires good Wi-Fi.
  • Lutron RA3 — pro-grade, more expensive, more flexible for whole-home automation projects.
